JOSH PRESTIN - MASTER OF THE WRITTEN WORD
A storyteller and photographer, Josh Prestin is interested in the interplay between nature and human, and in fences, both literal and figurative. Western space is defined by fences, and Josh is most curious about that which slips under, pounces over, or squeezes through these human-devised barriers to re-wild a captured space. He prefers falling dams to standing ones, wild salmon to hatcheries, gravel to pavement, Canon to Nikon, and poems to prose. Josh isn’t sure where to call home, but hopes Bainbridge Island accepts his offer. Josh writes regularly for magazines like Backpacker and The Drake, and he’s a published poet, itinerant academic, and survivor of a childhood in the Wisconsin Northwoods, where he once had a pet raccoon.
